In this article, we will discuss how to do eyebrows. Many of us do not give much attention to our eyebrows, but if done right, they can make a huge difference in your appearance. They define your face and enhance your beauty. They should always be done according to the shape and dimension of your face to suit perfectly. It is not easy to find time to visit parlor every week to maintain them, but what if we say that you can do it at your home?
Yes, you can do your eyebrows at home according to your preference and liking, whenever you want. Do not worry if you have no personal experience in doing eyebrows as you do not need to have special skills for it. By little practice and following proper guidance, you can excel in this and plus, you can do it for others as well.
Before you start doing eyebrows, you need to know the shape of your face and then decide the type of eyebrows that will suit you. Here are some suggestions which will help you determine which type of eyebrow shape will go with your face.
Round Shaped Face:
If your face is round shape, you need to make sure that when you do your eyebrows they are arched and are at the high point. This will make the face appear less full and give the illusion of a long face.
Oval Shaped Face:
Many of us desire an oval-shaped face as it makes it easy to carry any style. So, people who have such a face shape don’t need to worry about the shape of their eyebrows. You just have to keep the eyebrow slightly thicker and the arch of the brow slightly sharp and you are good to go.
Square Shaped Face:
If you have a square-shaped face, then you will be having more or less the same width on the forehead as well as at the chin. So the basic goal when doing your eyebrows is that you need to keep the arch high but not too much. Keep a slight curve and medium thickness to achieve the best look for your face shape.
Long Shaped Face:
When you have a long-shaped face you need to make it appear shorter in size. Here you need to shape your eyebrow flat with a slight curve at the end. This will help you make your face look slightly shorter than before.
Diamond Shaped Face:
In a diamond-shaped face, the forehead area is the widest part of your face. And if you want to make it appear less wide, you can create ‘S‘ shape for your eyebrow. Make it slightly higher at the starting point. Also keep the arch high, but not so high that it looks weird.
Heart shaped face:
People who have a heart-shaped face tend to have a sharp chin. So while you do eyebrows, you want to take away the attention from your chin to your eyes. To get this, you should have a kind of round shaped eyebrow and here you don’t need to have a highly pointed arch. Keep the eyebrow as smooth and round as you can. This will keep the appearance of your eyes and chin balanced.
You will Need the Following to Do Eyebrows:
For eyebrows, you will need threading thread. You can easily buy it online, from local beauty supplier, or drugstore. Its price can vary from 1$ to 5$ as per to different brands. When used by one person, this roll can easily last for a year. So it’s a great value for money. And, make sure that you are using a cotton thread as they are easy to use and hygienic too. Other products which you need are:
- A smooth makeup pencil to define the area you will be threading off. You can use any color but it’s better to go for white.
- A face or body powder with a puff.
- One small but sharp scissor.
- One brow brush
- Some brown brow cream or brown shadow or black brow pencil to fill in the brows.
Steps to Do Eyebrows:
Step 1
- Take a seat in front of the mirror and make yourself comfortable.
- Make sure that there is ample lighting and you don’t need to bend again and again. The more comfortably you sit, the easier process would be.
Step 2
- Choose a long pencil or any thin brush and align it in a straight line along the side of your nose. Mark the starting point and ensure that it is starting right above your tear duct.
- Now with the help of a brush/pencil and with one end on the side of your nose, make a 45-degree angle with the nose. The imaginary line should go right through the pupil of your eye. The spot where the pencil/brush hits the brows will be the highest point for the eyebrow. This will determine the arch shape and position.
- Next keep the pencil’s one end at your nose line and the other end along the outer corner of the eye. The point where the pencil meets the brow will be the finishing position of the brow.
- As now you have the three determining factors set, join the three spots using a pencil.
Step 3:
- Now, you will need to take 2 ft long thread from the roll. This thread will be used for tweezing.
- Next, you will need to hold the roll in one hand and in the other hand, take double the length of the distance we stated before. Then cut the thread.
Step 4:
- In this step, you will need to make a small knot and secure the thread. It should look like image no. 3.
- Avoid keeping the ends loose and hanging. If you see that there is an excess thread, simply cut it using a scissor. It may seem a bit confusing, but it will become much easier after doing it several times.
Step 5:
- Here, you will need to dab some powder on the eyebrows. Apply a small amount of powder.
Step 6:
- Now pick the knotted side of the string in one hand and the other side in another hand. Keep the hand (having knot) at a dormant position.
- Then, wind the other hand a few times or more. This winded or twisted portion is what will help us thread the unwanted hair.
Step 7:
- While keeping your fingers away from your face, take the winded part of the thread and place it right on the place having unwanted hair.
- Next, keep the fingers on one hand, closed while opening the fingers on the other hand. This action will move the winded thread and trap the hair.
- After that, you will need to do the opposite of what you did earlier. This means, open the earlier closed finger and close the other one to get rid unwanted hair from the roots.
- Try to pull the hairs gently against the growth. The hairs should come out easily with this action.
Step 8:
- Perform this action until you get the desired results. After pulling a few hair, take a look at your brows in the mirror and ensure that you are only threading the hairs which are outside the line which you have drawn.
- After completing the threading, use a brow brush to see if your hairs require trimming.
Step 9:
- Then, you will need to apply some fresh Aloe Vera gel. You can also rub an ice-cube if you don’t have Aloe Vera.
Step 10:
- Finally, remove the powder and the lines drawn. Next, fill in the brows using some brown shadow or brow powder and it’s done.
- If you feel that you might be doing it wrong, you can practice on the hair on your feet.
Additional Steps to Do Eyebrows:
- You don’t need to use a magnifying mirror to do eyebrows as a regular mirror will be sufficient for that.
- Always choose a place which has an ample amount of bright light. This will make it easier for you to perform the process as you will not have to sit really close to the mirror.
- Always be careful and check frequently so that you don’t ruin the shape and make them look inappropriate.
- It is suggested to do eyebrows just after taking a hot bath. This because at this time hair are soft and it will be easier to perform the action.
- Apply a local anesthetic cream in case feel more pain than usual. Also, you can dab some powder on the threaded area.
