Scabies is a contagious skin condition, which is most commonly seen in children and young adults. It can be transmitted from the skin to clothes. Scabies spreads quickly among people who have direct contact with each other such as crowded area, child care centers, and nursing homes. It spread from person to person via sharing of clothes and personal device, through touch and affect entire families at a time. Scabies is caused by a mite known as sacroptes scabies, which can survive in human skin up to a month. It generally appears on the buttock, shoulder blades, under the breast, between the finger, around the waist, soles of the feet, around the genital area, near the elbow and in the armpit. Pain, rashes, itching and redness around the infected area are the symptoms of scabies. Here are some home remedies for scabies which you can use to get rid of scabies.

Home Remedies for Scabies:

1.) Indian lilac Oil to Get Rid of Scabies

Indian Lilac has been used in Ayurveda medicine as an antiseptic and astringent since ages due to its antibacterial and healing properties. When you are dealing with scabies, you can apply medication to all parts of the body including between the gluteal region, fingers, toes, behind the knee and even soles of the feet. The cream should be left on for 8 to 24 hours. It should be reapplied every time you wash you wash your face and hands. It not only kill the mite but also soothe the skin, relieves the itching, reduces the inflammation, numbs the pain and also heals any secondary infection.

  • You can take 5 to 6 leaves of Indian lilac. Crush them using a pestle and apply the squashed up mixture directly to the part affected by scabies.
  • Or you can take the paste and put it in a small muslin or cotton cloth then squeeze them in opposite direction to get a pure juice like extract. You can apply this juice directly to the lesion or consumed it empty stomach at everyday morning. You can also mix this to your usual shampoo, shower gel or bathwater.

2.) Cayenne Pepper to Cure Scabies

Cyanne pepper not only helps to kill the mites but it also helps to lower the cholesterol. It has been using since ages as a natural remedy. It is used to alleviate the pain associated with scabies. Capsaicin present in cayenne is the compound responsible to reduces the pain sensation when applied to the skin. It also helps to relieve itching by desensitizing neurons in the skin. Cayenne pepper is very effective home remedies for scabies. It contains vitamin C, vitamin B6, vitamin E, manganese and flavonoids and it has antioxidant property. One study has found that it can cause a burning sensation that 30 percent of patient experience when using cayenne pepper. Applying cayenne pepper to the skin can kill scabies mites.

  • Mix one cup of cayenne pepper in hot bath water.
  • Soak in the bath water until the water gets cold. Be sure not to get the water of cayenne pepper in your eyes as the pepper will cause a burning sensation.
  • Rinse off the cayenne pepper with cool water.
  • Use this remedy daily until the scabies is treated.
  • Those who have sensitive skin don’t use this remedy.

3.) Tea Tree Oil to Treat Scabies

Tea tree oil is very effective home remedies for scabies because it acts as a pesticide to kill the scabies mite. It contains a compound called terpinen 4 ol that helps to kill the parasite that causes scabies. It also has anti bacterial, anti parasitic, disinfectant, anti-inflammatory and wound healing qualities, that helps to treat scabies.

  • Mix one tablespoon of each olive oil and tea tree oil.
  • Use a cotton swab to apply the solution on the affected area.
  • Apply this solution two to three times daily for three weeks.
  • It will help to decrease the pain and swelling while speeding up the healing process.
  • You can also add 20 to 25 drop of tea tree oil tea tree oil in a bathtub of lukewarm water.
  • Take this bath 2 to 3 times daily for a few weeks.
  • Pregnant women and nursing mother should avoid tea tree oil, or those who have sensitive skin should also avoid because it can irritate a sensitive skin. If you have sensitive skin, first test this treatment in the small area.

4.) Turmeric is Effective Home Remedies for Scabies

Turmeric has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties that can give the relief from the symptoms of scabies. the medicinal properties present in the turmeric act as a boon for us. The best way to use is add the pinch of turmeric in your food while cooking.

  • Mix few drops of lemon juice with one tablespoon of turmeric powder in water to make a thick paste.
  • Apply this thick paste on the affected area.
  • Leave it for at least an hour, then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Apply this remedy at least once a day for few days to see the result.
  • Alternatively. you can also use turmeric powder with Indian Lilac powder. Add some water to form a thick paste. Apply this paste on the affected area and let it dry. When the paste gets dry, take a bath or shower to wash it off. Repeat this process once a day until you get the result.

5.) White Vinegar to Cure Scabies Naturally

White vinegar is used as home remedies for scabies. The acidic nature of white vinegar changes the ph level of the skin. Research has found that any ph level change causes mites to die.

  • Mix white vinegar in the equal amount of water in a bowl.
  • Apply this solution on the affected area using the cotton ball.
  • Leave it for a few minutes, then rinse if off with lukewarm water.
  • Repeat this process three to four times a day for 10 to 15 day to get the better result.

6.) Lavender Oil is Effective Home Remedies for Scabies

Lavender oil helps skin cell regeneration and kill the parasites like mites, which causes scabies. Add four to five drops of pure lavender oil in a warm bath water. Soak in this bath water for at least 15 minutes. Take bath from that water, it helps to soothe the skin and provide some relief from itching. Take that bath at least once a day for a few weeks.

  • Mix equal amount of lavender oil and rubbing alcohol.
  • Apply this solution on the affected area and gently massage, so that it penetrate and saturates the skin.
  • This remedy will help to kill mites and their eggs. Apply this remedy two to three times a day to speed up the healing process.

7.) Aloe Vera to Cure Scabies

Al0e is very effective home remedies for scabies. It has antimicrobial property and many natural medical properties that help to speed up the healing process of insect bites, scabies, and many other skin conditions.

  • Apply the gel of fresh Aloe Vera on the affected skin. Leave it for about 30 minutes.
  • Then rinse Aloe Vera gel with lukewarm water.
  • Repeat the process two to three times a day for a few weeks and notice the improvement.
  • You can also grind a few calendula petals along with a pinch of turmeric powder. Add two tablespoons of Aloe Vera gel and mix it well. Apply the paste on the affected area and let the paste dry it own. Apply this remedy twice a day for a few weeks.

8.) Zinc to Treat Scabies

It doesn’t completely treat scabies but it helps to prevent fungal outbreaks and fight off secondary skin infection. It promotes the treatment.

  • Grind three tablets of zinc to make it powder.
  • Add a little water to make a thick paste.
  • You can also add a little bit of turmeric powder to make it more effective if you want.
  • Apply this paste on the affected area then leave it for at least 30 minutes and let it dry naturally.
  • Then rinse if off with lukewarm water. Repeat it once a day for a few weeks until you get the result and get rid of an infection.
  • You can also eat food rich in zinc like sunflower seed, wheat bran, soybeans, whole grain product.

9.) Clove oil to Prevent Scabies

Clove oil has anti- bacterial and anti- inflammatory properties. it can penetrate into the skin and kill the mites within 20 minutes and it is also safer for children to use. Don’t directly use clove oil, it can cause severe burning and itching on the skin, first dilute it.

  • Mix clove oil with almond oil and germ oil and apply it on the skin.
  • Massage on the affected area after the application of the clove oil.
  • This help to penetrate the oil deeper into the skin and kill mites.
  • Clove oil is very effective home remedies for scabies.
  • You can also add a few drops of clove oil to the hot bath water.
  • Take bath from that water. It will help you to reach those areas, which is not accessible for local application.

10.) Rosemary to Treat Scabies

Rosemary is effective home remedies for scabies. This medical herb is used worldwide to treat the various health condition. It has anti- inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti- pinene carminative property that helps to kill mites and prevent bacterial infection and soothe symptoms of scabies.

  • Simply add a rosemary plant in boiling water.
  • Let it steep for about 15 minutes and drink it two times a day.
  • Drink this two times a day.
